These Are the Changemakers: Visual Arts
Time: 45-60 minutes
Standards: Common Core ELA and CASEL
As a means of building students’ readiness for developing their own creative action projects, this lesson focuses students’ attention on successful changemakers who use the visual arts to address issues and create impact in their communities and the world at large. These featured changemakers will serve as models for the projects students will begin in an upcoming lesson.
After this lesson, students will be able to...
- reflect on the efforts of changemakers who use visual arts to make an impact.
- envision themselves as visual artists who tell a story to inspire action and change in their communities or the world at large.
